ABOUT US

Our museum is a non-profit, cultural heritage center in western North Carolina.  Our gift shop carries a range of Scottish items from t-shirts up to a full line of kilts and accessories.  We are not a large mega-store or retail outlet.  You can be confidant that all purchases made through our gift shop go to support our museum.  By shopping with us, you are helping to support education about Scottish heritage, specifically Highland dress.  Before you place your order, we encourage you to read these notes about our gift shop.  Please follow the gift shop site menu above, and if you have any questions or problems selecting an item, please write us at tartans@scottishtartans.org

Some Notes About Our Shop

We offer a very wide range of items, each available in a wide range of tartans and clan names.  It may take time to put your complete order together.  We are happy to rush deliver items that we currently have in stock in our gift shop, but if you have a deadline, please call ahead to ensure availability.  We will try our best to work with your deadline, but you have to let us know, and the best way to do that is by phone.Please pay attention to the text in green next to each item description, indicating the normal stock status of each item.  This is to give an idea of the general status of that item, and is not meant as a guarantee of delivery date.  Once you place your order you will receive a confirmation email giving the stock status of your individual order.

We do our best to keep a good stock of our most popular items.  Because of the wide variety of tartans most of our items are available in, we typically do not have large quantities of the same item.  If you are ordering several of one item, please allow us enough time to compile the order. We obtain our items from several sources in the USA, Canada, and most of all from Scotland.  For this reason, shipping times may vary.  Any item that is custom made, including kilts, will take varying times to make.  Please pay attention to these shipping times.

Please use the "Add to Shopping Cart" buttons to select items you wish to order.  When you are ready to check out, you can access your shopping cart with the "View Cart" button in the left hand menu.  Our shopping cart system is provided by PayPal and enables you to make purchases using any major credit card, and even by check.  You do not need to have a PayPal account in order to use our shopping cart system, and you can be sure that all your personal information is kept entirely secure.  You may also place your order on the phone by calling (828)524-7472 or toll free 1-866-898-1192 during our normal business hours (11am to 4pm Mon-Sat) or, if you prefer to pay with check or money order, by sending payment to us at 86 E Main St, Franklin NC 28734.

You will receive an email confirmation of your order within 24 hours (48 hours on the weekends).  This confirmation will tell you the approximate shipping time for your individual order.  Our standard shipping methods are by FedEx Ground or USPS Priority Mail.  If you select Ground delivery at check out, please provide us with a physical shipping address (not a PO Box).  Both shipping methods reach most domestic locations in 3 to 5 business days.  If you select Ground shipping, your package will be insured and you will receive a tracking number once your package ships.  USPS Priority mail is not insured and cannot be tracked in transit.  If you need your order shipped by a faster means, please phone in your order. In addition to a confirmation email from us when you place your order, you will also receive an email notification from either FedEx or the USPS once your package is in transit. If you have not received a confirmation email from us, please check your spam folder.  We are not responsible for emails not received due to being picked up by spam filters in place by your email system.  You may email or call us at any time to check the status of your order.
